Altruist is a modern custody and brokerage platform used by Dollar Investment Club and Leigh Baldwin Advisory, LLC to support client investment accounts. Through Altruist, clients have direct online access to view investments, access statements and tax documents, monitor account activity and performance, and review other important account information.
Altruist Financial LLC is a broker-dealer registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) and is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”). Altruist Financial LLC provides brokerage-related products and services as part of its business activities.
Altruist Financial LLC is also a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (“SIPC”), which means securities held in your brokerage account are protected up to $500,000, including $250,000 for claims for cash. An explanatory brochure is available upon request or at www.sipc.org.
In addition, Altruist Financial LLC carries an excess SIPC policy with underwriters at Lloyd’s of London, which extends per-account coverage by an additional $40 million, with a cash sublimit of $2 million, subject to an aggregate limit of $150 million across all Altruist accounts. Certain investments or transactions may not be covered by the excess SIPC bond.
Altruist Financial LLC’s Bank Sweep Program provides the ability to automatically sweep uninvested cash balances into FDIC-insured bank deposit accounts at participating banks. Cash swept into an interest-bearing account at a participating bank is federally insured up to applicable FDIC limits in the event of a bank failure. Once funds are swept into an FDIC member bank, they are protected by FDIC insurance and are not covered by SIPC or Lloyd’s of London excess SIPC coverage.
Neither SIPC protection nor excess SIPC coverage protects against losses resulting from a decline in the market value of securities.
